TIRANA, March 31 – The High State Control, the top auditing institution, has discovered abuse of public funds has caused some 4 billion lek (about 40 million USD) of damage during 2008.
This report was sent to the parliament, according to the local media.
The taxation department topped the list with some 1.88 billion lek of abuse including tendering processes and customs.
The auditing company had made 152 checks in main cities. Tirana and Vlora taxation departments were on top of the list to be blamed.
