TIRANA, May 5 – Forty-five political parties have been registered to take part in the June 28th parliamentary elections.
That is a considerably lower number compared to the last polls when there were 57 participating. That is due to the new regional proportional system in which the smaller political parties prefer to join in coalition in order to earn a considerable number of votes and be capable of getting any parliamentary seat.
Political coalitions have a few more days to get registered, until 45 days before the polls while political parties had to be registered 60 days before. The final date is May 13.
