TIRANA Oct. 18 – The government decided to create an ad-hoc committee on the expanding lotteries and other gambling businesses. This committee, at the Economy Ministry, will examine all license inquiries and business applications for casinos and similar structures. The final decision-maker will be the minister, who will consult the expertise of the commission on a case basis. The commission will also design new rules and regulations about the standard of the lottery tickets. Other competencies include the annulment of the business licenses when the specific business refuses to comply with the approved regulations and proposing the number of casinos that can be simultaneously opened in a specific zone. The General Directory of Custom said that during the period January-September they had collected taxes from them up to 788,664 million leks. In September alone there was an increase of 43 percent compared to the same month last year.
