ELBASAN, Oct. 25 – Elbasan Mayor Ardian Turku said Wednesday that investment has covered the whole territory of the city. Investment in the city is three to four times higher than in 2003 or 2004, from 25 million lek to 70 million lek this year, he said. This has come about, according to Turku, as a result of the tax reduction and better management, lower fiscal evasion and cutting expenditure. Some 25 projects were invested last year. Investment in the education system in the last three years was 64 million lek. Many other millions have been spent to repair the protective walls of a small river. Other funding has been given from international institutions like the European Union, World Bank and so on.
