TIRANA, Nov.15 – The Finance Ministry will provide all employed Albanian people with a personal identification number for purposes of income registration, taxation and social security contributions. The ministry will also apply a new scheme for registering all personal income data starting 2008. The news was communicated by the Finance Vice minister, Florian Mima. The measure emulates the American experience with the Social Security numbers. This is the second legislation that the Albanian government is borrowing from the America experience. The other is about impeachment and is being considered by the Justice Ministry for providing a legal framework under which to investigate the General Prosecutor.
