Economic Freedom – Heritage lists Albania at the 66th place

Washington D.C., Jan. 17 – The Heritage Foundation, one of the most respected conservative think tanks in the United States published its report on economic freedom where Albania getting 64.1 points listed as the 66th country on a performance list. Neighboring Macedonia was 71st, while the first prize was captured by one of the economic tigers of Asia: the Chinese province of Hong Kong not long ago given up by the British. Despite recognized improvement throughout the years Albania remains behind the regional average and is 34th out of 43 European countries. The total list numbers 157 countries. The breakdown of the indicators show that the business freedom has improved by more than 56 percent with the average procedural bureaucracies being lowered. Fiscal freedom has also been improved due manly to lower taxes applied to an extensive range of businesses.
