Police reports on crime fighting this year

TIRANA, Feb. 19 – Police reported that they have increased their work and prevented many crimes during this year. Police reported there were noticed more than 1,000 crimes this year and they had discovered 79 percent of them. They had detained or arrested 481 persons and have taken to court 472 others. Police said they had cracked six criminal groups for illegal trafficking, drug trafficking and economic-financial crimes. Police said they had confiscated some 41 kilograms of heroin, 371.5 kilograms of marijuana and 1.2 kilograms of cocaine during this year. They had also sequestered many false documents. Police have arrested 180 wanted suspects, one of them wanted for a terrorist act, though the details have not been made clear.
