BMW X5 cars are stolen, say customs officials

TIRANA, Feb. 28 – Albanian customs officials said Wednesday that most of the BMW X5 vehicles driving around the country had no regular documents and were considered as stolen ones. But the prosecutor office retorted a day later that they had no open or asked investigative cases for them, adding that a recent parliamentary immunity lifted such accusation to anyone. Customs officials said Wednesday that 105 out of 118 X5 cars were without regular documents. Their owners have declared smaller versions of the vehicles, thus paying less tax money, or some of them have not paid customs at all. It seems though that beyond the surprising news that was another topic of the political fight between the central government and the prosecutor office.
