TIRANA, Feb. 28 – A report of the Commission of the Civil Service showed that most of the officials moved from their posts by the government in the last year were wrongly fired. During 2006 the commission checked the cases of 737 officials from 337 the previous year. The commission said 477 out of them were fired by violating the status of the civil official. “In all institutions of the public administration there have been acts contrary to the law, especially at the central administration of the customs and taxation administration,” said the report.
Out of them 60.6 percent of the complaints were accepted as being fair. But parliamentarians of the majority contested the report considering it as if “written by the opposition and that does not present the real situation of the public administration.” Fatos Beja of the Democratic Party considered the report as “overstepping the competencies.”
He also said the report did not mention at all the government’s fight against corruption. While opposition parliamentarians said that the report did not show that the government on diet has increased the number of its personnel contrary to what it had pledged before it came to power.
