TIRANA, Feb. 27 – Tirana court decided Tuesday to keep under arrest two politicians of the National Democratic Front political party and declare wanted a third one for producing a fake signature of a person allegedly trying to run as a candidate for the Tirana city hall post. Artur Roshi, 38, Celo Hoxha and Tomor Gostivari, leader, secretary general and senior official of the political party, have allegedly produced a fake signature of late Akile Rama to run against opposition Socialist leader Edi Rama. The opposition protested against putting him in the race as an attempt by the majority to confuse voters with an identical surname. The late candidate withdraw after some days saying he had not run for the post, which urged the opposition and the prosecutor office to start the investigation. The three accused politicians said that was not a fake signature. Akile Rama died days before Feb. 18 local elections. He was 75. Gostivari was not arrested and the court declared him wanted. The accused persons said the investigation had started because of political reasons accusing the prosecutor office of being a tool in the opposition hands. (Tirana Times Staff)
