TIRANA, April 9 – An explosion Monday evening damaged the car belonging to Albanian opposition Socialist Party parliamentarian Erjon Brace downtown capital Tirana, but caused no injuries. Brace, also editor-in-chief of the opposition’s newspaper Zeri i Popullit (Voice of the people), said he had heard a blast at his Mercedes car while he was in the office along Tirana’s main boulevard. Police have yet to identify the authors or suspects of the crime. Brace did not accuse anyone. He said, however, that Prime Minister Sali Berisha should find authors and distance himself from the incident. Brace had just come back from a day-long meeting of the opposition Socialists. The police ha doubts weather to classify the incident as an ordinary crime against private property but then decided on categorizing it as a terrorist act and putting it under the jurisdiction of the Investigation unit of Grave crimes.
