East Naples, U.S. – A man extradited to the U.S. from Albania has been charged with second-degree murder in a 2005 fatal stabbing in East Naples. Collier County sheriff’s investigators named Ardi Gerbi, 28, as a suspect in the stabbing and learned he had fled to Albania, where he was from. The FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement were contacted and a warrant was issued for Gerbi’s arrest in June 2005. The State Department and FBI located Gerbi in Albania and he was taken into custody and extradited to the U.S. Gerbi remains in the Hardee County jail and U.S. marshals will transport him to Collier County. Amarildo Shuaipi, 22, of 81 Emerald Woods Drive, was fatally stabbed outside the Osprey Landings apartments in East Naples on May 11, 2005. Information from witnesses said Shuaipi and another man, Gerbi, had been involved in a fight in a bar. Gerbi then followed Shuaipi back to Osprey Landings, where the fight continued, reports show.
