TIRANA, May 8 – Representatives of the NATO retired officers’ organization support the request of their Albanian counterparts for pensions, according to a local newspaper.
Derek Cheff and Peter Witze, both officials of the NATO retired officers associations, said on Monday they considered it absurd that Albanian retired officers, or those dismissed from the ranks due to the army’s reforms, were suffering for lack of a pension.
Albanian retired officers claim they should still enjoy their military status and receive the financial rewards based on that.
The former Albanian officers say they will take the case to the Strasbourg court unless they receive their pensions from the executive.
