Albania cooperates with Greece to stop illegal border crossings

GJIROKASTRA, May 15 – Albanian and Greek police have held a joint operation, codenamed Balkan Anti-traffic 7, stopping hundreds of Albanians trying to illegally cross into Greece.
Recently, Gjirokastra police have stopped 213 Albanians who were trying to cross the border illegally. Albanians try to illegally cross borders during the summer when they may work in Greece in agriculture or tourism.
Greek police have deported 244 Albanian citizens who had entered the neighboring country without a visa.
