Drug fight remains top priority for Albanian police

TIRANA, May 24 – Fighting drug distributors remained a main area of concern for police during the last week, resulting in numerous arrests of persons trying to sell different drugs, mainly in the capital, Tirana.
Bashkim Azemi, 42, was arrested Tuesday in Tirana with 2.5 grams of heroin he hoped to sell.
Bilal Xhaferraj, 71, was arrested after he had been sentenced to three years imprisonment for cultivating drugs.
Oltion Gega, 27, from Tirana was arrested Saturday after being found with 65 grams of Cannabis Sativa he was to sell.
Laurent Pashaj, 26, was arrested at Tirana International Airport or Mother Teresa, after being accused of trafficking drugs. Together with Edmond Beqiri and Mustafa Zahaj, they have allegedly trafficked drugs for some months to Italy.
