TIRANA, June 6 – Bujar Muharremi, the main representative of Albania in Kosova, was fired last week and this week the foreign ministry sued him for corruption and abuse of his post.
However, the following day the local media disclosed a letter that Muharremi, a former television journalist, had sent to minister Lulzim Basha saying he was fired because they feared he would disclose many corrupt actions, or scandals as he called them, committed by Basha and his clan.
Muharremi was allegedly fired for abusing the fuel supply for the Albanian mission in Kosova, something that was in fact opposed even by UNMIK authorities there.
In a separate action by the ministry, former counsel to Ioannina, Greece, Faik Dishnica, was also taken to the prosecutor office with a charge of abusing the issuing of passports for the Albanian immigrants. Another diplomat, Londina Dedi, will also be investigated.
