TIRANA, July 2 – Austrian Interior Minister Gunfer Platter met with Albanian senior officials to discuss new ways to fight organized crime and trafficking.
Platter met with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who said his government was making continuous efforts to consolidate the fight against economic crime.
Berisha said that Albania may also serve as a good example for inter-religious tolerance in the region. Such tolerance may serve as an important issue in the dialogue among different cultures, he said.
Platter suggested holding a meeting next year in Vienna on cultural dialogue as part of the fight against global terrorism.
Platter and his Albanian counterpart, Bujar Nishani, also signed an agreement on social security and prevention of crime.
The agreement covers cooperation in the fight against drugs, terrorism, international organized crime such as human trafficking, illegal immigration, crimes against property, economic crime and money laundering.
