TIRANA, July 9 – Fishermen from the four main ports in Albania reached a deal Monday with Finance Minister Ridvan Bode to reduce the cost of fuel.

Fishermen, who have been on strike for three weeks, said they would resume work after agreeing to buy diesel fuel set at 40 leks per liter.

Such a price will continue for three months, during which time the two sides will again sit down to discuss a new scheme of improving diesel price and other issues.

Bode told them the new scheme would not be a burden on them.

“The government’s aim is that fishing sector be modernized with a new functional scheme that would promote the development of this sector, increase production and capacity,” said Bode.
