TIRANA, Aug. 15 – The Albanian government approved Wednesday a project to build a new cement factory that would cost 250 million euros.
The new cement factory will be built by the Spanish company Aguila in Fushe Kruje, north of capital Tirana, according to a government statement.
That is the second cement factory approved by the government after that of Titan eight weeks ago.
The company has already prepared all the required documentation to immediately start the construction of the factory with a 2 million toms of cement annual production. It may further increase in the future.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha said that the cement industry in the country has good prospects in the north, adding some other Italian and European companies had already expressed their interest.
Berisha said that the area of Fushe Kruje is very appropriate for such an industry due to its resources.
A third company was preparing the documentation and very soon that could also be approved and start building of the factory in the near future, according to him.
