BUSHAT, Aug. 21 – Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli said Tuesday in a northern town that reforms to take the country ahead in its integration efforts need the support of the opposition.

During a visit to Bushat in Shkodra district to introduce new projects, Topalli expressed optimism that in the partial election in Tirana for a member of parliament to fill the seat left vacant after President Bamir Topi was elected president would come out victorious for the ruling Democrats.

But she spoke more at length on the country’s political developments.

The government reshuffle and reforms in the judiciary, need a broad consensus which the party hopes to achieve with the Albanian opposition, she said.

Electoral reform is at the top of the parliament’s agenda when it resumes plenary sessions next month.

They will be followed with the constitutional amendment on the president’s election and also other reforms needed and required for possible NATO membership next year.
