TIRANA, Sep. 24 – Fighting drug trafficking, especially in Tirana which has the largest number of drug dealers, has remained a top priority in daily police work. Spartak Xhecuka, 24, was arrested Saturday after police found him with 142 grams of hashish that he hoped to sell. Klevi Janushaj, 23, was arrested Sunday with five grams of heroin on a main street in downtown Tirana. Police reported that an operation entitled Enigma resulted in the arrests of five people in Vlora. Arrested were Kastriot Abazaj, 37, Valmir Limaj, 20, Hysni Dervishaliaj, 22, Aleks Hysi, 31, and Andrea Kuteli, 34, all residents of Vlora. They were charged with hiding some 710 kilograms of marijuana destined to be transported to Italy. Mareglen Gjeci was arrested in Tirana after being found with 41 grams of heroin and other criminal materials. Police had been investigating him for two weeks.
