GJIROKASTER, Oct. 15 – A combined operation between Albanian and Greek police prevent some 253 Albanians from crossing into neighboring Greece illegally.
Police from Gjirokastra and Ioannina held the joint operation, called Green Net. About 95 Albanians were not prevented from crossing the border illegally while the rest were turned back towards Albania after being found without legal documentation.
In a separate operation, police at the Kakavie border crossing point arrested Servet Kuka, 37, accused of helping five citizens to illegally cross the border into Greece in exchange of 1,200 Euros paid to him by each of them. While in western Durres, police arrested Behar Hoxhaj, 28, for transporting four persons to Italy in his truck. When the four were found and turned back to their homeland, they had said how they were transported, though Hoxhaj denied being involved.
