TIRANA, Nov. 20 – Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Tuesday that the tourist boom, significant increase of the number of tourist coming to the country this year, should not turn into a boomerang.
Speaking at a workshop on Albania’s tourism and image, he said that authorities should take better care of the remnants in the country and also try to improve the service to the tourists.
The premier said that he had received many letters from tourists worldwide hailing the country’s progress in tourism. But he also added they expressed complaints on environment pollution.
Berisha also said that service to tourists should definitely improve and the country has already schools on tourism.
“We are known of generosity that no one would compare with us. But that should be processed, adapted,” he said.
Figures shoed that about 1.5 million tourist visited the country this summer. The bulk is Albanians from Kosovo and Macedonia who come to the 380 kilometers of the Albanian seaside.
Berisha said that the government would undertake an international promoting campaign on Albania’s tourism.
“We need tourists not only because of the expenses they make here but more for the image we should transmit to them during these years,” he said.
