Marfin Popular Bank interested in a branch in Albania

ATHENS, Feb. 25 – Cyprus’ Marfin Popular Bank has recently applied for a banking license in Bulgaria, but it has also expressed interest in opening a branch in Albania as well, according to Thomson Financial News. The sources explained that at this Marfin has applied to open one branch but under their business plan they hope to open 18 branches within 18 months.
Andreas Vgenopoulos, the executive Vice Chairman of Marfin Popular Bank, has said that Marfin Popular Bank was looking at possible operations in Albania and Bulgaria to export their expertise.
