TIRANA, March 3 – The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy met last week in Vau I Dejes in northern Albania to discuss construction of the Ashta hydro power station. Besides local representatives and special interest groups, officials from the International Financial Corporation and the Albanian government were also present.
Beginning the meeting, Vice Minister Neritan Alibali said building this power plant, which is the fourth in the Drini River, is of great importance to Albania.
The Ashta power plant, which will produce 40-50 MWs., has seen eleven European companies bidding for the international tender. The winning bid will be announced this month.
