Albanians arrested for drug trafficking in Italy

BARI, March 12 – Three Italians and 18 Albanians were arrested in several Italian cities on charges of drug smuggling between Italy and Albania. Arrests took place in Rome, Florence, Padova, Lecce, Pesaro, Ancona and Perugia. The suspects have been accused of supplying cocaine to the Dutch cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Police report confiscated heroin came from Albania. The revenues from the smuggling were invested in economic activities in Albania. Police report the value of the seized cocaine and heroin had a value of five million Euros. Police also confiscated the suspects’ cars and mobile phones.
