KORCA, April 13 – Two teenagers were injured while collecting an unexploded shell they hoped to sell for scrap. The incident occurred in the village of Lozhan, Korca district, in southeastern Albania.
The teens had been collecting iron and other metal which they sold as scrap to support their families.
They were working on Sunday at an area near an old mine when they found the shell.
The resulting explosion caused both teens to suffer burns. Area residents were reported to have become frightened by the explosion, only weeks after the munitions catastrophe at Gerdec. (Tirana Times Staff)
