THE HAGUE, April 16 – The Hague Tribunal found “no substantial evidence” that ethnic Albanian guerrillas killed dozens of Serbs and sold their organs at the end of the war in Kosova. Olga Karvan, a spokeswoman for the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal, said U.N. investigators had visited northern Albania in an attempt to substantiate the claims, which had been relayed to the Hague-based court in 2002 and in 2003 by U.N. officials in Kosova.
Now it is up to authorities in Kosova and Albania to decide if they would continue the investigations.
Former war crimes prosecutor Carla Del Ponte mentioned the allegations in her recently published memoirs.
Human Rights Watch has urged Kosova to check the claims with counterparts in Albania.
