Miners from Balkan countries to meet in Turkey

IZMIR, May 5 – Miners from the Balkan countries will meet in
the Turkish port city of Izmir this October.
“The congress will take place within the scope of MINEX-2009
Mining, Natural Resources & Technologies Fair,” Dogan Isleyen,
the director general of
the fair company said.
Some 1,000 delegates
from Albania,
Turkey, Greece, Macedonia,
Bulgaria, Romania,
Serbia, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Croatia
and Slovenia will participate
in the convention.
Participants will discuss social, political, economic and environmental
dimensions of the mining industry in the Balkan countries,
possible solutions of problems faced in the industry, further improvement
of bilateral relations, and the status of the Balkan mining industry
in the world.
The previous mining congress of Balkan countries was held in
Serbia in 2007 and was attended by Germany and Russia, as well.
More than 100 mining companies from Britain, Denmark, Poland,
South Africa, Italy, Canada, Czech Republic, Switzerland, United
States, Slovenia, Romania, Australia, Austria, Finland, Germany and
Turkey participated in the MINEX 2007 fair. (Tirana Times Staff)
