Switzerland supports local authorities in Shkodra

TIRANA, June 3 – Yvana Enzler, the ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Albania, signed an agreement Tuesday with the Albanian Interior Minister, Bujar Nishani, on supporting the Decentralization and Local Development Programme (DLDP) in Shkodra region with a contribution of CHF 4.5 million (some 3 million Euros).
The funding will support decentralization and local governance in eight municipalities and communes in the Shkodra region for three years, working in close cooperation with the local and regional authorities as well as with citizens groups there. The Swiss funded project is implemented by Intercooperation, a Swiss NGO working in the field of decentralization.
The main goal of DLDP is to support a group of eight municipalities and communes in the ongoing decentralization process in Albania: Shkodra, Vau i Dej쳬 Koplik, Puka, Fush뮁rr캬 Gur i Zi, Daj硡nd Velipoja. (Tirana Times Staff)
