Opposition promotes agriculture development

TIRANA, June 16 – During a national tour, the leader of the main opposition Socialist Party, Edi Rama, has been discussing ways to promote domestic development of agriculture.
In his last stop in southeastern Korca district, Rama said that, when in power, the Socialists would be fully committed to promote agricultural development and manufacturing products as a way to fight poverty in the country. Albania is still considered one of Europe’s poorest countries at a time when most of its population lives in the countryside. Rama said there would be no European Albania without a developed rural sector.
Management of agriculture small businesses was a main issue to deal with, also adding his executive would not ‘forget’ that sphere.
Improving infrastructure in the countryside would also be a great assistance to transport local products to urban areas.
Supporting small farms with cheaper fuel would be another way, according to the opposition leader.
As a politician, he did not forget to make promises such ‘returning dignity to the countryside in four years.” (Tirana Times Staff)
