TIRANA, July 7 – The German media group, Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ), entered the Albanian media market with the acquisition of a stake in the national commercial TV broadcaster, Vizion+.
The company has purchased a minority holding in the independent television operator and both parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The WAZ had monitored the Albanian media market for one year and believes it offers significant room for expansion and fast growth, according to company officials. “We have applied strict quality measures for our involvement in the politically independent and economically solid broadcaster,” said WAZ managing director, Bodo Hombach.
WAZ Mediengruppe does not exclude the possibility of further acquisitions in the Albanian media market. (Tirana Times Staff)
