TIRANA, July 7 – Club Med, the French tour operator and resort group, working with Albanian construction company, Riviera, will begin building a 38 million euro resort in Albania following three years of legal disputes with residents living near the proposed resort, a Riviera official said on Thursday. Territorial authorities in southwestern Vlora district have already approved the project.
After three years of legal headaches and protests from resident, Club Med is moving forward with its project to build a tourist village in southern Albania. The French hospitality company said it has reached agreement with residents of the bay of Kakome, who claimed ownership of the land, to become stakeholder in the project. The holiday company plans to build a luxury 350 villa complex at the bay, 220 kilometers southwest of Tirana. (Tirana Times Staff)
