Businesses criticize Tirana city hall attacks

TIRANA, July 12 – The Tirana Chamber of Commerce has protested what it called selective regulatory treatment by the Tirana City hall, saying Tirana businesses were threatened by such practices. Such selective treatment came just one week ahead of formalizing informal capital, a statement said. They said available capital was estimated at some 10 billion Euros, from which the authorities would normally receive 700 million through taxation.
It was not made clear what kind of attack the city hall made against the group. It was clear, however, that the actions had become political. The chamber said their interests were not political, as they were not involved in the country’s politics.
Tirana city hall is currently controlled by the opposition Socialist Party, while the central government is run by the ruling Democratic Party.
