TIRANA, Jan 21 – Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis is expected to visit Albania in the near future, according to a local newspaper.
Panorama daily reported that Bakoyannis’ spokesman had confirmed that the minister would come to Tirana on a visit.
Last week Greece ratified Albania’s Stabilization and Association Agreement that it signed with the EU in June 2006, being the last EU member country to do ratify the agreement.
At the same time, Tirana agreed to let Athens build two cemeteries for its soldiers killed during World War II.
Greece has also pledged it will ratify the NATO protocol membership for Albania, required to be completed by all alliance members before Albania may become a full member, likely this spring.
