TIRANA, Feb 1 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha met with the Czech President Vaclav Klaus to discuss Albania’s candidacy status to the European Union within the first half of this year when the central European country holds its rotating presidency.
During the meeting held at Davos economic forum in Switzerland, Berisha was assured from Klaus of Prague’s support in this process.
Albania signed the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union in June 2006 and since then it managed to convince all its member countries to ratify the agreement.
The Interim Agreement has been in force since December 2006.
