Greek-assisted hospital in southern Gjirokastra

GJIROKASTRA, March 30 – Albanian military officials handed over to the Ministyr of Health the Gjirokastra Military Hospital that will further serve civilians.
The hospital was renovated and equipped with required technology with Greek assistance some months ago.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense Gazmend Oketa who handed it over to his health counterpart Anila Godo and other local officials.
Oketa also thanked the Greek government for the project in the new hospital.
Godo considered it to be the most beautiful gift to the health system.
The Gjirokastra Military Hospital was opened in 1999 some two kilometers from the city at a former infantry unit territory. Greece funded 1.8 million Euros to fund its construction and it became operational in the summer of 2004 first giving medical assistance to the military forces carrying out thousands of operations and taking care of over 100,000 patients, military and civilian.
