TIRANA, June 22 – President Bamir Topi on Monday convened all leaders of the main law enforcement institutions calling on them to be careful and impartial while administering the election process of June 28.
Heads of the judiciary and prosecution, police and army, the ombudsman, and financial institutions heard Topi say that the June 28 voting day should not be considered as a day of battle but as a day of celebrations.
The president made it clear that Europe and the international institutions were closely watching the election process in Albania, now a NATO member and one that has also applied for candidate status with the European Union.
The elections are considered as a key test of the political maturity in the country’s integration efforts.
Some 500 international observers will closely monitor the elections before and during the voting day.
