TIRANA, July 7 – There is no swine flu suspect in the country but still health authorities are getting ready for any case.
It is believed that the arrival of thousands of Albanian immigrants from around the world may also bring the virus in the country.
Trying to prevent any panic the health authorities said they are to buy immediately some 50,000 doses of tamiflu, the vaccine that helps cure the flu victims.
The health ministry made ready an amount of money, some 100 million leks, for the drugs.
At the moment they have already 3,000 doses of tamiflu.
Health authorities their attention at the moment was not preventing the arrival of the swine flu in the country, which they considered impossible due to the flow of immigrants from all over the world, but making ready the health care centers to cope with any case. They said that discovering any case in the early stage would be the best prevention.
Health authorities also tried to calm down the population saying that the swine flu had milder symptoms now, a sign showing of less danger.
Albania’s neighboring countries, Greece and Macedonia, have had swine flu cases but no life-threatening one. Three Albanian immigrants were detected with swine flu in Greece.
Hundreds of thousands of Albanian immigrants live in Greece and other countries affected with swine flu cases. that is a sign that cases of swine flu are very likely to arrive in the country.
Health authorities also advised the population to make the regular flu vaccine in September and October, the time when they fear the first cases will be detected. They also urged the population to immediately show to their family doctor if they suffer from any symptom of the swine flu.
