TIRANA, July 29 – A Maltese NGO, Smile For Albania, a society of the University of Malta, will be holding this weekend a jumble sale, at Ghar-id-Dud seafront promenade, near TGI.
Items for sale include books, bric-a-brac and household goods, all at give-away prices.
The society has, since 1994, been providing humanitarian dental care to students at Preca College and children from other state schools in Korce, Albania.
A group of Final Year dental students and members of staff, from the Department of Dental Surgery, University of Malta, visit Korce for the first two weeks of September, every year. The University’s four-unit dental clinic is housed at Preca College.
Preca College is run by members of the MUSEUM and admits students aged 14 to 18 years.
The College is recognized as a leading institution of secondary education in Albania with former students attending universities in various countries, including Malta and the USA.
Proceeds from the sale go towards purchasing dental materials and medicines to treat around 250 children during their next visit in September 2009.
