Official says EU ready to help Albania’s health system

TIRANA, Aug 31 – Prime Minister Berisha received in late August Zsuzsanna Jakab, director of the Stockholm-based European Center of Diseases Control (ECDC).
Jakab congratulated the Prime Minister for the victory in parliamentary elections and praised the different positive achievements of Albania in last four years.
Jakab expressed maximum support for involvement of Albania in work for ECDC projects, under the framework of EU integration, as well as willingness for concrete aid in the field of public health and action strategies for coping with the flu pandemic.
Jakab is a candidate for post of WHO regional office director for the next elections, which will be held in September.
Berisha thanked Jakab for her assessments and support of this important body and assured her of the deepening of reforms and achievement of required standards by Albania during his second governing mandate
