TIRANA, March 24 – The OSCE Presence in Albania donated 16 biometric passports readers to the Albanian State Police in a ceremony held at the Kakavija border-crossing point in Gjirokastra.
The equipment will further modernize Albanian border control and increase border security, both key criteria for the visa liberalization process.
Albania has set new border management systems in line with the European Union requirements set in the road map.
Tirana is hoping to get the visa-free regime from Brussels, likely starting in summer.
