Outgoing US Ambassador donates book collection

TIRANA, July 20 – Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth Ferdinand Xhaferaj, fellow Ambassadors and other distinguished guests joined outgoing US Ambassador John L. Withers II last week at a book donation ceremony at the American Corner located in the National Library of Albania in Tirana. A very large collection of books encompassing approximately 500 titles were donated. The collection includes titles in English and Albanian which will now be available at Tirana’s American Corner. At the donation ceremony, National Library Director Aurel Plasari, thanked the Ambassador for the gift and reminded the guests that the ceremony coincided with the 90th anniversary of the National Library foundation. Ambassador Withers spoke about the importance of books and the great impact that they have on people’s lives.
