Chopin Year Events Resume With Ballet Performance

TIRANA, Oct. 13 – The Chopin Year celebrations in Albania will resume this weekend with a ballet premiere by Enada Hoxha and Gerd Vaso, two of the country’s most successful soloists of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The couple of dancers, who are married, will stage on October 16 and 17 the “Pain and Live’ ballet with music by renowned Polish composer Mozart.
The event is jointly organized by the polish and French embassies in Albania in the frame of the Chopin Year celebrations around the world.
Albanian celebrations to mark the 200th birth anniversary of renowned Polish composer kicked off on February 28 with a concert organized by the Municipality of Tirana, the Frederic Chopin Association, and the Polish and French embassies in Tirana.
Events continued on March 3 with a concert by Polish pianist Marek Szlezer at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet with some of Chopin’s best compositions and a concert by French pianist Pascal Gallet one month later.
The Polish composer and virtuoso pianist is considered one of the great masters of Romantic music. The great majority of Chopin’s compositions were written for the piano as a solo instrument.
Last June, an exhibition dedicated to renowned Polish composer Frederic Chopin opened last weekend at the National Museum in Tirana. The “Chopin in Paris, the composer’s atelier” featured an interactive exhibition bringing documents proving the variety of Chopin’s works and the magic this genius brought to classical music.
The exhibition portrayed the universe of the composer and the way he managed to enter the artistic cycles in Paris. It was organized by the French embassy and French Alliance in the frame of the 200th birth anniversary of the renowned Polish composer.
Last summer, the third day of the 11th edition of the Butrint international festival, dedicated to the 200th birth anniversary of composer Frederic Chopin, brought a theatrical troupe from Poland, Chopin’s birthplace: The performance with music by Chopin was staged at the Lekuras theatre.
