TIRANA, Nov. 8 – Power supply in the northern Shkodra region will significantly improve after the construction of two substations, worth 11 million euros, Prime Minister Berisha said last Sunday after inaugurating the Koplik substation of the Malesia e Madhe district.
Promising other investments in the Shkodra region, Berisha said that government would soon start constructing a road to the country northernmost village of Vermosh to link it to the other Hani i Hotit border crossing point with Montenegro.
Currently, a highway linking Shkodra, the country biggest northern city, to the Hani i Hotit border checkpoint is under construction.

Kashar sub-station

The Kashar electricity sub-station outside Tirana, a euro 35 million investment, whose construction is expected to finish by the end of this year, will double Albania’s electricity transmission capacities increasing the country’s import and export opportunities, says the energy ministry. The investment considered the most important in recent years in the electricity transmission sector is jointly financed by the Italian government and the Albanian Electricity Transmission Operator.
Ministry officials says the 400 kv modern substation is the biggest interconnection investment and will give an end to power failures in the capital.
