By January 2011, taxpayers will be able to access their tax obligations on-line
TIRANA, Dec. 21 – Tirana Municipality inaugurated on Wednesday the opening of its new Business Development Center, a one-stop shop which has been transferred at the former mechanical plant facilities in the capital. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Tirana Malyor Edi Rama described the new center a totally European space welcoming all business entrepreneurs paying taxes in the capital.
The Business Development Center, includes the local government tax directorate, but also the Urban territory planning control directorate and the National Registration Centre service, made possible under a municipality project to offer businesses quality service.
The municipality says it is also negotiating with the National Licensing Centre to offer its service in the municipality’s new tax directorate where seven registration and assistance desks have already been made available.
By January 2011, taxpayers will be able to access their tax obligations on-line under a project which is being implemented by the municipality’s General Directorate of Local government taxes.
The project will enable business owners to download their tax obligations for the whole of 2011, eliminating bureaucracy and saving them time. Business owners will also have the opportunity to file on-line complaints on the municipality’s website.
According to the municipality’s latest data, some 19,900 small, big and VIP businesses paid local government taxes in the first eight months of 2010, almost 1,200 more than the whole of 2009. Tax revenues from January to August this year also climbed to 2.37 billion lek (23 million dollars, up 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
