TIRANA, Feb. 21 – The Durres street, the key segment to reach the Tirana city center from the Zogu i Zi junction reopened to traffic last weekend after one week of reconstruction work.
Inaugurating the street last Friday, just before the planned anti-government meeting, Tirana Mayor and opposition leader Edi Rama, said the reconstruction work was carried out in record time in the frame of the multimodal transport to improve road traffic in the capital’s main axes.
Thanking citizens for their understanding and patience while the 950 metre-long street was repaved, Rama said the reconstruction of the central square, where complicated underground works continue, would make Tirana a city of European standards. Since few weeks, the central square and part of the main boulevard has been left open only to public transport.
