First cruise ship visits Durres Port

DURRES, April 25 – More than 400 tourists from all over Europe visited Durres last weekend in the first cruise ship trip in Durres Port during this year, port Authorities said in a statement.
Sources said the tourists, most of whom from the UK, but also Germany, United States and Australia, visited Durres and archeological sites such as the ancient Roman amphitheatre and the local archeological museum, but also the neighbouring town of Kruja during their first stop in Durres. The Island Sky cruise ship which arrived from Montenegro as part of a tour also went to the southern town of Saranda to make its passengers see southern Albania.
Port officials say some 700,000 Albanian and foreign tourists visited Durres last year.
Earlier this month, the Mircea school ship of the Romanian navy also visited the Durres Port as part of a tour in Mediterranean ports.
