Berisha pledges to turn Albania into a digital source

TIRANA, April 2 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha hailed the digital developments in the country and pledged that it would soon turn into a good example with low-cost technology and service offered to the population. He said that soon all the schools would be totally equipped with internet access.
The premier took part Monday at a conference the Ministry of Education and Sciences organized under the topic “Albanian Education in the Digital Age”, that discussed the development of information technology in the country.
Berisha hailed the creation of the Albanian Information Technology Association five years ago.
Berisha considered of fundamental importance the initiative of some important Albanian companies in the fields of hardware, software, systems integration, who five years ago created the Albanian Information Technology Association.
“Albania counts today tens of completely digital services and goes quickly toward a unique window for services,” he said.
Albania has made a “quantum leap” in this sector, he said pointing also to the existence of greater potentials it has.
“Today,” said PM Berisha, “We are on the 100-th anniversary of Albanian independence, closer like never before and determined to transform the country.”
The prime minister said that the government’s priority this year is to provide Internet connection in every classroom and asked the Education Ministry to create all the conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation.
He said that the target is to launch a strong competition in all our educational system in this field so that Albania gets transformed into a small regional superpower for software and relevant products.
He also spoke on the use of digital technology during the examinations.
Berisha promised that the government would do its best to provide free or cheap Internet access to everyone.
