Albania, Kosovo inaugurate digital highway

TIRANA, Nov. 21 – After the Highway of Nation, Albania and Kosovo are now connected even through a digital highway. The 100Gb/s interconnection line was inaugurated this week by Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his Kosovo counterpart Hashim Thaci in the Qafe-Morine border crossing point. The project implemented under the Digital Albania initiative is a Euro 11.6 mln investment by the Albanian government through the Transmission System Operator OST and the Albanian Post and a Euro 2 million by a Kosovo company. “Today together with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Tha詠we are inaugurating the nation’s digital highway, the highway on which young Albanians, will benefit faster internet. This is a gift, a promise kept that is being made for the 100th anniversary,” said Berisha.
“Today, eight days before the national flag holiday, I have great pleasure that on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo together with Albanian Prime Minister Berisha to inaugurate another highway, the Prishtina-Tirana digital highway,” said Thaci.
